In Memoriam

G. Philip Rodgers, 1928-2011

We are saddened to report the death of G. Philip Rodgers, one of the incredibly generous benefactors who made possible the building of Hudson’s new library. Phil and his brother Al were committed to leave a memorial legacy in honor of their mother and father, Ella M. and George H. Rodgers. Their gift of four million dollars in October 2007 provided the funds needed to increase both space and services for residents of Hudson, their birth place. In less than two years the building was completed and was dedicated in June 2009.

With the permission of the Rodgers family, we are providing a link to the Eulogy to Phil read at the Funeral by his nephew, Gary Rodgers. In addition we are reprinting Phil’s favorite poem, IF by Rudyard Kipling. A copy of the poem is also available at the Library.

A condolence book is available at the Library for patrons who would like to express their sympathy and gratitude to the family.

The full obituary notice was published in the Nashua Telegraph on Sunday March 13, 2011 and can currently be viewed online, here.
